It’s all about me!
Men who have undergone weight loss surgery seem to be a silent minority…Well, here’s one man that won’t be silent! I have found this limitless blessing and I want to share my story with others.
Two years ago, my life seemed to be falling apart. My marriage had recently ended, my weight was escalating, and my health was fading. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and had recently been diagnosed with diabetes.
Things started to turn around for me in June 2005. I found God’s Grace and was Saved. Just a few months later I was referred to a kidney specialist that really opened my eyes. He was extremely concerned with my health and asked me a question that I will never forget. He asked me why I was letting myself die at such a young age! Then he recommended Dr. Davidson and weight loss surgery.
I went to see Dr. Davidson in October 2005, with my heart set on Lap Band surgery. Once I attended the seminar and was thoroughly educated on both the Lap Band and Gastric Bypass surgeries, my decision changed. I thought of Lap Band as a quick fix, in and out of surgery and I would be cured! I realized after the information seminar that no weight loss surgery is a quick fix and the Lap Band requires a little more maintenance because of the band adjustments. I decided the Gastric Bypass surgery was better suited to my lifestyle and was happy to find out that it has low long-term risk and low long-term maintenance besides vitamin supplementation.
Surgery was not as difficult as I thought it would be. I followed the diet and post-operative instructions that I was given and lost 100 pounds in 3 months!! Six weeks after surgery, my diabetes was resolved, my cholesterol normal, and I was down from 5 blood pressure medications a day to 2!
Every day I wake up and can’t believe the small size clothes I am putting on! I have so much energy and enthusiasm for life! Finding God and having weight loss surgery have completely changed my life. I feel completely reborn and I can’t wait to share my story and God’s grace with others.
