Necklift
What Is a Necklift
A neck lift is a cosmetic surgery that helps reduce signs of aging in the neck and lower face. Over time, skin can lose firmness due to gravity, sun exposure, and lifestyle factors, leading to sagging, wrinkles, and fat buildup. This procedure tightens the skin, removes excess fat, and improves the jawline for a younger, more sculpted look. It helps with:
- Jowls along the jawline
- Loose or sagging neck skin
- Fat under the chin (double chin)
- Wrinkles and creases on the neck
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Necklift
You may be a good candidate for a neck lift if you:
- Are in good health and have realistic expectations
- Want to reduce signs of aging in your lower face and neck
- Have loose skin or excess fat in the neck that doesn’t improve with diet or exercise
During your consultation, Dr. Mustafa H. Alibhai will review your medical history, assess your skin, and discuss your goals to see if a neck lift is suitable for you.
How We Perform Necklift Surgery
Our doctor carefully places incisions based on the level of correction needed. A traditional neck lift involves incisions starting at the hairline near the sideburns, extending around the ear, and ending in the posterior hairline. This allows for significant lifting and tightening. A limited neck lift requires smaller incisions around the ear for minor corrections, offering a quicker recovery but less dramatic results. In some cases, an additional incision under the chin may be used to remove fat or repair muscles.
During the procedure, fat in the jowls and neck is either removed or repositioned to create balanced contours. The underlying neck muscles (platysma) are tightened for long-lasting support, and excess skin is trimmed for a smoother, firmer look. Finally, the
incisions are closed using sutures or surgical adhesives. They are carefully placed to keep scars hidden within natural contours or the hairline for a discreet, natural-looking result.
